Tough League: Runyenjes football is back

Shaolin B got off to a false start in the Embu East Sub-County League as they were hammered 6-1 by St. Lwanga on Sunday. The youth side of promoted side Shaolin B slipped in the second half at Mukuuri despite holding the hosts to a 1-1 draw in the first half.

Experience matters

Elsewhere, experienced sides Kathunguri and Ena showed what being used to the league means. Both teams picked comprehensive wins to go to the first and second position respectively.

Kathunguri fired four without reply past newly promoted Rukira to collect a second win on the trot. On the same vein, Ena battered Ugweri 3-0, despite the latter having dropped from the County League.

Twins FC avenged last season’s loss to Gikuuri with a 3-0 win at home. The first three points of the season came on the back of a 2-2 at Kanja, underlining a positive start to the season.

Nduuri came back from last week’s 0-2 loss to Ugweri to pick a 1-0 home win against Kavangua. Kiangungi, another promoted side, edged old boys Kanja to get their first win in the league.

The league was returning from a week’s break which had been called to pave way for Nawiri Sacco tournaments. The tournament is yet to end and has been following unclear programs.

What next?

The Sub County League proceeds to the third round in the upcoming weekend. Shaolin Soccer vs Rukira, slotted for midweek, will be postponed as the Nawiri tournament resumes. Shaolin B might also have to push their match against Kiangungi over the weekend as they will be playing in a ward tournament.

The same fate will probably apply to Kathunguri vs Nduuri, as the latter are also participating in the Kyeni South Ward tournament.
