Newly promoted sides found the going pretty tough as the Embu County League entered its second round on Sunday. Shaolin Soccer, Green Everton, Gaturi, Kaa Ngumu all lost at home. Meanwhile, Kisimani fell away to fellow newcomers Juventus while Runyenjes dropped points at home in a 1-1 draw with Kangami.

The second round of fixtures proved to be more competitive as teams begin settling into the new season. 3k and Manchester collected maximum points yet again, this time on the road.

Contrasting starts

After a first-round absence due to tournament assignments, Inter Dunga and Kaa Ngumu got off to contrasting starts. Dunga, travelling to Gaturi, picked three points in a hard-fought 1-0 win. At the same time, Kaa Ngumu fell 1-3 to Yatte in their first ever Embu County League match at Moi Stadium.

After Suday’s matches, Manchester remain perched at the top of the table. Below them are 3K and Juventus who also have six points but albeit with an inferior goal difference. Yatte and Inter Dunga rose to the remaining two top-five places after winning their repective openers.

What next?

There is no time for rest as the third round continues this weekend. Kangami return home on Sunday where they welcome Gaturi. On the same day, manchester will be playing Yatte at Kairuri. 3K will also be playing at home against Juventus while Kisimani host Green Everton at Kaathari.

Elsewhere Moi Stadium will host a double header on the day. Kaa Ngumu will open the action against Runyenjes at 1pm before Inter Dunga goes up against Shaolin at 3pm.
