Makindu, Makueni County-

FC Inter Dunga Dunga and 3K FC, the two teams representing Embu County in the regional mini-league, were both eliminated at the group stage of the ongoing competition in Makindu, Makueni county.

Inter Dunga drew both of their group A to finish with a jointly on to points with hosts Makindu and Bafana Bafana of Isiolo. They were however eliminated for having an inferior number of goal scored.

Dunga went ahead in the early minutes of their first match against host Makindu, Stephen ‘Onyi’ Onyango slotting in after a team move to give them an early lead. The hosts got on the scoresheet shortly after to ensure they got a part of the spoils at the end of the match. 1-1.

In their second match, Dunga had to fight to come from behind and, despite huge pressure towards the end, couldn’t grab a winner and finished with another 1-1 draw.

Bafana and Makindu, who had drawn 2-2 in the opening match, thus proceeded to the quarters with a superior Goals For (GF) tally.

3K, playing at Muslim Grounds, surrendered a 2-0 first-half lead to lose 3-2 to Chapa Dimba Eastern Region winners Mwingi Junior Stars (MJS). They then drew 1-1 with Sultan in the second group match.

Sultan beat MJS 1-0 to finish top of the group with four points, with both sides proceeding to the quarters at the expense to the quarterfinals.

The Embu delegation was heavily dispirited at the end of the day and held a solace talk with the County government delegation which was led by Sports CEC John Ngari Kiamati. Also present was Sports director Patrick Njagi, the Sports Chief Officer, and Eliphas Kinoti.

The delegation urged the teams to prepare more solid teams for the next edition and promised a more fruitful partnership with football teams in the coming season.

In Group C, PJ Dave and St. Martin advanced to the quarters, while Group D had both Kathungi and Kitengela qualifying automatically.
