Gor Mahia have this evening fired two time KPL wining coach Frank Nuttal. According to a letter sent by the Scot to newsrooms, the club has fired him after he refused to take a 50% pay cut.
Read the letter, signed by Nuttal, in full:
The Executive Committee of Gor Mahia has terminated my contract today, 4th February 2016, via a letter to my lawyer Mr. Gradus Olouch and Co. Advocates. However my contract was to expire on 1st January 2017.
The reason for terminating my contract is because the Executive Committee of Gor Mahia club wanted to reduce my salary by 50%, whereas my contract clearly provided for a 10% increase of my salary from 1st January 2016.
Let me take this opportunity to thank all Gor Mahia players and fans for their support since ai joined the club in September 2014.
Gor are until the moment of publication unreachable for comment.
Close sources say Nuttal actually wanted his salary increased from the range of Ksh. 700, 000 to Ksh. 900, 000, something Chairman Ambrose Rachier could not agree to.
Nuttal succeeded Bobby Williamson mid 2014, and went on to win the KPL in the same seasons, before repeating the same feat last season, going the entire league unbeaten. He also propelled the side to the Cecafa Kagame Cup finals in Uganda, the KPL top eight trophy and the GoTV shield semi final where they lost to Nakumatt.
