The Embu County League (ECL) was well on its heels in the first weekend of 2020. All seven matches set for Sunday were played across various grounds in the County, with the round proving yet again that this is not going to be an easy season.

Rukira kicked off the day’s action as they welcomed Kisimani in the first match of a doubleheader at Nembure Grounds. The newly-promoted side showed that they are no pushover as they held the former Runyenjes District League Champions to a 2-2 draw. In the second match at the same ground, home side Gaturi also played to a 2-2 draw with Kigumo (Shaolin).

Elsewhere, 3K dropped a rare two points at home as they drew 1-1 with Triumph at Kagumori. The defending champions have made their home ground a fortress in past seasons. Triumph will definitely be pleased to collect a point here.

There were wins for Kaa Ngumu, EWASCO, and Kairuri, all of whom were playing at home. Juventus (Karurina) was the only side to get a win on the road as they overcame SA Manyatta 1-0. Here are the full results for all matches played on Sunday.
